The Beginning

Welcome to the J and L Blog!

It was the first day of our adventure on the road! We left Lancaster, PA on Wednesday evening (after a bunch of arguing about how to pack the car and why it wasn’t packed when someone had ALL day to do it. What the heck was he doing? But I’m not pointing any fingers…) and headed towards Johnstown, PA to see our families before the “big” trip.  We enjoyed a pizza dinner with Jon’s parents and my Mom. (My Dad had to work.)  It was very nice to spend some quality time with our parents. And geesh, were they worried about us!! I almost got the impression they didn’t have confidence in us for the endurance of this trip! But, I think it’s just because they LOVE us so much! 🙂

So, then we set our alarms for 7:00 a.m. Thursday morning thinking we’d leave J-town around 9ish, maybe? HA! How WRONG was I!?!?! However, we didn’t leave on time for a good reason. I couldn’t leave without spending some time with my Dad. He took us out to breakfast at the Corner Coffee Shop (Best french toast!) and we ended up talking until after 11:30 a.m. BUT again, it was very nice to have that quality time with him.

Within about 5 minutes of getting onto 219 S, I was asleep…disguised as looking at a map…smart, right? Other than that, the car ride was pretty uneventful.

We arrived in Cleveland, Ohio around 3:20 p.m. and hurried our butts to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because they close at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.  The ticket lady informed us we only had 2 hours to see 6 floors of sex, drugs, and rock and roll, but we did it! Unfortunately, they don’t allow photography in the museum, so I couldn’t take a picture of Michael Jackson’s iconic white sparkly glove and Janis Joplin’s non-dipped acid paper. Jon had to explain to me what you do with that… trippy, man!

Along with seeing the sights of the country, we also are trying to enjoy the local fare in each city. For dinner, we stopped at an Oh Boy! in Lorain, OH. And oh yes, it was DELICIOUS and a little messy, too! No hot dogs or kielbasa for us this time.
