Wow! What an eventful day from beginning to end! Our car ride from Toledo, OH to Chicago, IL was quite exciting because of a terrible line of storms that poured buckets onto our car for about 45 minutes straight! The lightning was incredible! I tried REALLY hard to get a picture, but it just didn’t work.
We had lots of ideas of things we wanted to do when we got to Chicago, but the night before we left, we discovered The Taste of Chicago was going on! Since Jon and I are so into eating and food, we HAD to stop! When we looked at the map and board of things to do, I GASPED! My FAVORITE CHEF, Giada de Laurentiis, was going to be there doing a cooking demonstration at 2:30 p.m. And thank goodness we were early for her because the tent filled quickly! We were 5 rows back from the stage and she answered so many questions. It felt like she was a motivational speaker. She actually didn’t do too much cooking herself because she picked people from the audience to help her, but I can see her cook anytime I want on the Food Network, so I’d rather listen to her speak. It was absolutely the BEST part of the trip yet! I was beaming with happiness! (Jon can testify.) 🙂
